Description:
The National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) intends to publish a notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) to support research that seeks to develop, adapt, and/or evaluate social determinants of health (SDOH) interventions, or test strategies for the implementation of SDOH interventions already shown to be effective in rural populations. The research must address SDOH in the development, adaptation, implementation, or evaluation of interventions. Some examples of potential research topics include: • Developing and evaluating SDOH interventions to mitigate the impacts of adverse SDOH and/or bolster positive SDOH in rural populations • Adapting evidence-based interventions to specific rural communities and testing for acceptability and efficacy or effectiveness • Conducting pragmatic and implementation studies, including hybrid effectiveness/implementation studies of adapted interventions or intervention bundles • Evaluating the impact of events or policies on rural populations, such as the closing of a local hospital or the opening of a new employment center.

Budget Estimate (AI):

$200,000 – $500,000

The budget for this grant is not explicitly stated, but based on the information provided, it can be estimated that the funding amount will be in the range of $200,000 to $500,000 per year, depending on the scope and complexity of the proposed research project. This estimate is based on the fact that the opportunity is a re-issuance of a previous funding opportunity, RFA-NR-24-005, and the funding amounts for similar grants in the past have been in this range. Additionally, the opportunity is for a research project, and the funding amount will likely depend on the number of personnel, equipment, and other resources required to complete the project.
