The Lansing Board of Water and Light (BWL) is seeking a firm to develop and execute an effective governmental relations strategy to protect and advance the interests of BWL. The chosen firm will be required to meet with the BWL Executive Staff, represent and advocate for BWL on specific projects and issues, develop a strategy to promote the BWL's government relations objectives, and provide timely reporting on legislation that impacts the operation of the BWL. Key responsibilities include: • Meeting with the BWL Executive Staff to develop an understanding of the BWL's government relations objectives • Representing and advocating for BWL on specific projects, issues, funding opportunities, and legislation • Developing a strategy to promote the BWL's government relations objectives • Providing timely reporting to the BWL on legislation that impacts or potentially impacts the operation of the BWL • Providing periodic progress updates on issues of concern to BWL • Facilitating meetings with appropriate legislators and key officials regarding BWL government relations and providing updates to BWL • Participating in periodic performance evaluation meetings at the request of the BWL
