Description:
The Caño Martín Peña Ecosystem Restoration Project (CMP-ERP) aims to reestablish the tidal connection between the San José Lagoon and the San Juan Bay. This project includes site development, dredging, debris removal, installation of sheet piles, and bridge protection measures. The contract includes the site development of Ciudad Deportiva Roberto Clemente Material Management Area, dredging of the Aquatic Disposal Pit, and construction of a riprap channel at the Barbosa Bridge. The project requires coordination with ENLACE and the G-8 due to the proximity of residential structures and dense population. • Dredging of 1.2 miles channel • Access channel dredging from staging area to eastern end of CMP • Bank stabilization to include sheet pile • Barbosa Bridge scour protection • Material management must comply with the Water Quality Certificate, state and federal laws • Water quality in the SJL: turbidity control, controlled placement of the sediments into the pits to limit the release of grey waters • Community Outreach: Working in Caño Martín Peña area requires coordination with ENLACE (NFS) and the G-8
