The City of San Diego is seeking an artist or artist team to design, fabricate, and transport permanent, site-specific artwork for the Emerald Hills Park Public Art Project. The selected artist will work with City staff, the project design team, and construction contractor to develop the artwork, which will become part of the City's Civic Art Collection. The project budget is approximately $70,000, and the selected artist will be expected to design, fabricate, and transport the artwork, as well as consult during installation. • The artwork should respond to the unique context of the park site, considering factors such as the purpose of the park, its relationship to the local context, and its importance in creating livable and walkable communities. • The artist will be expected to develop working relationships with City staff, the project design team, and construction contractor, and collaborate with them during the design, fabrication, and installation phases of the project. • The artist should have experience working in media and with concepts appropriate to the project, site, and sociocultural context. • The artist should have demonstrated artistic and technical skills necessary for this project, including education and training as an artist, exhibition record, previous site-specific commissions, and other related activities indicative of artistic achievement or experience in successfully completing previous site-specific commissions of similar scope, scale, budget, and complexity.
