Description:
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is seeking a contractor to perform maintenance dredging of portions of the New York and New Jersey Channels, Arthur Kill 35’ Reach, Federal Navigation Project. The proposed work involves removing approximately 150,000 cubic yards of selected critical shoals from the Arthur Kill 35’ Reach and transporting the dredged material to a contractor-furnished, state-permitted upland placement site. The contractor will be required to use a mechanical dredge with an environmental clamshell bucket and meet all federal, state, and local criteria for the placement of the dredged material. Some key points to consider include: • The contractor must provide copies of all required permits and approvals within 35 calendar days of being notified as the apparent low bidder • The contractor must commence work within 5 calendar days of receipt of the notice to proceed and maintain an integrated production rate of at least 2,500 cubic yards per calendar day • The presence of dredging equipment in the channel will impact ship traffic, and the contractor must minimize the duration of this impact • The contract is expected to be awarded in June/July 2026, and the proposed work is anticipated to take place between October and December 2026

Budget Estimate (AI):

$10,000,000 – $25,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is estimated to be between $10,000,000 and $25,000,000. This estimate is based on the magnitude of the project, which involves the removal of approximately 150,000 cubic yards of dredged material and the transportation of this material to a state-permitted upland placement site. The cost of the project will likely be influenced by factors such as the type of dredging equipment used, the distance to the placement site, and the cost of obtaining the necessary permits and approvals.
