Description:
The County is seeking a qualified contractor to completely remodel and expand Hondo Fire Station 2, a 9,000 sf facility built in 2006. The work includes selective demolition, new construction of multiple interior spaces (exercise room, showers, bedrooms, office, training classroom, kitchen, dayroom, storage), MEP upgrades, exterior stucco and roof work, civil site grading, ADA‑compliant parking, utility tie‑ins, and provision of temporary housing for fire‑fighter staff before construction begins. The contract calls for a 365‑day performance period, a 5 % bid bond, 100 % performance and payment bonds, and compliance with Santa Fe County’s living‑wage, EEO, and bonding requirements. • Demolition of designated interior/exterior areas and construction of ~650 sf of new space. • Full MEP, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire‑alarm, and low‑voltage system installation. • Civil site work: grading, drainage, ADA parking, curb & gutter, utility relocations. • Mandatory pre‑bid site visit/meeting on March 12 2026; temporary housing for four firefighters required prior to construction.

Budget Estimate (AI):

$8,000,000 – $12,000,000

No contract value is disclosed, but a full remodel and expansion of a 9,000 sf fire station with extensive MEP, civil, and interior upgrades typically ranges from $10 M to $15 M in New Mexico, depending on material selections, labor rates (including the county living‑wage ordinance), and the need for temporary housing. Therefore a reasonable estimate for the contractor’s earnings is roughly $8 M‑$12 M after subtracting subcontractor margins, with the final award likely falling near the midpoint of that band.
