Description:
The National Institute on Aging (NIA) intends to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit new, renewal, and competing revision applications for research project cooperative agreements. The proposed research must be relevant to the mission of NIA, which includes genetic, biological, neuroscientific, preclinical, clinical, behavioral, social, psychological, and economic research on aging and the health and well-being of older people. The NOFO will utilize the U01 activity code, which requires substantial programmatic involvement. • The research areas of focus include aging and the aging process, diseases and conditions associated with aging, and other special problems and needs associated with growing older. • The NIA places major emphasis on research on Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Alzheimer's disease-related dementias (ADRD). • Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to contact NIA program staff prior to submitting an application to discuss the responsiveness of their proposed research to the NOFO and its relevance to NIA’s programmatic priorities.

Budget Estimate (AI):

$200,000 – $1,000,000

The budget amount for this opportunity is not specified in the document, but based on the fact that it is a research project cooperative agreement, the award amount could be substantial. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) typically provides funding for research projects in the range of hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars. The estimated budget amount could be influenced by factors such as the scope of the research project, the number of applicants, and the availability of funds.
