The State of Hawaii, Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife is seeking bids for the replacement of ungulate-proof fencing within the Puʻu Makaʻala Natural Area Reserve (NAR) on Hawaii Island. The project involves replacing approximately 3.75 miles (19,800 linear feet) of fence, including associated tasks such as brushing the fence corridor, installing pedestrian gates, and removal and disposal of old fence materials. The successful bidder will enter into a contract with the State of Hawaii and will be required to provide a performance bond and a payment bond to ensure completion of the project. • The project requires the replacement of existing fence with new fencing that meets specific specifications, including a minimum height of 48 inches and a gap between the bottom strand of the wire mesh and the ground of no more than one inch. • The contractor will be responsible for transporting all necessary materials, equipment, and labor to the site, as well as removing and disposing of old fence materials. • The project is expected to take approximately 180 days to complete. • The contractor will be required to comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including those related to environmental protection and worker safety.
