Description:
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is conducting market research to identify potential sources of commercial products/services that satisfy the Government's anticipated needs for a mass comparator balance. The balance will be used in an environmentally controlled mass lab to train state and industry laboratory metrologists. The minimum requirements for the balance include a maximum capacity range greater than 32 grams, readability less than or equal to 1 microgram, and absolute repeatability less than 2 micrograms. Some key points to consider are: • The balance will be used for training purposes in a controlled environment. • The equipment must meet specific performance requirements, including maximum capacity range, readability, and absolute repeatability. • Respondents are asked to provide information about their company, the equipment they sell, and its technical specifications. • NIST reserves the right to use the information provided for any purpose deemed necessary and legally appropriate.

Budget Estimate (AI):

$50,000 – $200,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate as the document does not provide a specific budget or price range for the mass comparator balance. However, based on the complexity and specificity of the requirements, it is likely that the balance will be a high-precision instrument with a relatively high price tag. A possible estimate for the budget could be in the range of $50,000 to $200,000, considering the cost of similar laboratory equipment. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the complexity of the instrument, the materials and technology used, and the manufacturer's reputation and pricing strategy.
