Description:
The City of Palmdale is seeking a qualified contractor to execute Phase I ADA‑compliant upgrades to the municipal Playhouse. Work includes demolition of an existing ramp and related components, construction of a new 37‑ft ADA‑compliant ramp with stainless‑steel handrails, installation of two fire‑rated sliding doors, replacement of theater seating to provide wheelchair and companion spaces, tactile and exit signage upgrades, site grading, fencing modifications, landscaping restoration, and associated finish work. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder and will be performed over approximately 50 working days. • Demolition of ramp, guardrail, fence, and removal/re‑installation of theater chairs. • New concrete ramp, landings, curb, expansion joints, stainless‑steel handrails/guardrails, and two 45‑min fire‑rated sliding doors. • ADA‑required seating re‑configuration, tactile signage, parking stall striping, and site‑work (earthwork, fencing, landscaping, utilities). • Mandatory pre‑bid site visit, 10 % bid bond, 5 % retention, prevailing‑wage compliance, and extensive insurance/bond requirements.

Budget Estimate (AI):

$500,000 – $1,200,000

No contract value is disclosed. Similar municipal ADA retrofit projects of this scope (≈ $500 k–$1.2 M) typically range between half a million and just over a million dollars, driven by concrete work, fire‑rated doors, handrail fabrication, and extensive site preparation. Assuming mid‑range material costs and a competitive bid, a reasonable estimate is $500,000 to $1,200,000.
