The Barrow County Schools are seeking bids for the purchase of up to 30 new complete school buses. The buses must meet the specifications outlined in the bid document, which includes requirements for the chassis, engine, transmission, brakes, and body. The buses must also meet the current State of Georgia and Federal School Bus Specifications. The contract will be awarded to the bidder who provides the best value to the school system. • The buses must have a minimum 272" wheelbase and a 10" rear bumper with bracing at corners. • The engine must be an inline six cylinder diesel engine with a minimum of 220 HP. • The transmission must be an Allison 2500 PTS Series automatic transmission. • The brakes must be a Bendix air brake system with ABS. • The body must be constructed with 20 gauge fluted exterior side panels, 16 gauge exterior side rub rails, and 14 gauge floor panels. • The interior must have a minimum headroom of 77" and a 12" upper sash opening. • The buses must be equipped with a Carrier 120,000 BTU dual in-wall flush mount front and rear bulkhead air conditioning system.
