Description:
The University of California, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) is conducting market research to identify potential sources that possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience necessary to supply the Beam Position Monitor (BPM) major and sub-assemblies for the Advanced Light Source (ALS-U) project. The ALS-U project is an upgrade to the existing ALS, which is a 1.9 GeV storage ring operating at 500 mA of beam current. The upgrade will provide a soft x-ray source that is orders of magnitude brighter and will provide a significantly higher fraction of coherent light in the soft x-ray region. The BPM electronics assemblies provide signal conditioning, timing distribution, and processing necessary to measure the transverse position of the particle beam. The assemblies consist of multiple printed circuit board (PCB) sub-assemblies grouped into major functional assemblies. LBNL is looking for potential sources that can demonstrate the following requirements: PCB design/layout capabilities, PCB fabrication capabilities, PCB assembly, testing and quality, chassis and integration capabilities, and programmatic and capacity questions. • PCB design/layout capabilities • PCB fabrication capabilities • PCB assembly • Testing and quality • Chassis and integration capabilities • Programmatic and capacity questions

Budget Estimate (AI):

$500,000 – $5,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate as the document does not provide specific information on the payment amount. However, based on the scope of the project and the requirements for the Beam Position Monitor (BPM) major and sub-assemblies, it can be estimated that the budget will be in the range of $500,000 to $5,000,000. The factors that may influence the likely payment range include the complexity of the project, the number of sub-assemblies required, and the expertise and experience of the supplier.
