The New Buffalo Area Schools (NBAS) is requesting proposals for the improvement of the Transportation parking lot. The project includes expansion, resurfacing, and associated site work. The scope of work includes site preparation, base installation, asphalt work, and striping and traffic controls. The contractor must demonstrate experience with asphalt paving and site development, capability to perform excavation, grading, and paving work, and proper insurance and licensing for work in Michigan. • The project requires the excavation of expansion and new construction areas to a depth of 9” below existing grade. • The removal of three tree stumps is required. • The contractor must verify field conditions prior to excavation. • The installation of 6” of 22A stabilized gravel in all new/expanded areas is required. • The project requires the rotomilling and removal of existing asphalt to gravel base. • The contractor must furnish, install, and compact asphalt as follows: 3” average thickness of 4EL leveling course and 2” of 4EL wearing course. • The project requires the striping of the parking lot per existing layout and the installation of two new traffic loops at gates.
