The Alaska Railroad Corporation is soliciting bids for a one-time purchase of 115# and 141# 80’ stock rail. The rail must meet the specifications outlined in the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance of Way Association (AREMA) Manual for Railway Engineering, Volume 1, Chapter 4, Rail. Bidders must provide sufficient technical data to allow for a detailed evaluation of the product bid. The contract will be awarded to the low, responsive, responsible bidder that meets the requirements set forth in the specifications. • The contract requires the delivery of 16,800 linear feet of 115# RE rail and 104,000 linear feet of 141# RE rail. • The rail must be head hardened or fully heat treated, and must meet the specifications for steel rail outlined in the AREMA Manual. • The bidder must provide a detailed quality control plan and perform sufficient inspections and tests to ensure conformance to applicable standards and specifications. • The contract includes provisions for payment, inspection, and acceptance of the rail, as well as requirements for packaging, marking, and shipping. • The bidder must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and must indemnify and save the Alaska Railroad Corporation harmless from any claims or damages arising from the contract.
