The ACED program seeks to accelerate scientific discovery through computing and drive new computing advancements. It has two tracks: Emerging Ideas Proposals for speculative multidisciplinary projects, and Discovery Proposals for transformative interdisciplinary research. The program requires collaborations between at least two groups of researchers, one in computing and one in another scientific or engineering discipline. Key aspects of the job include: • Developing computing techniques to advance scientific disciplines • Fostering novel computing technologies • Collaborations between researchers in computing and other disciplines • Proposals must clearly identify scientific problems, computing techniques, and preliminary collaborations or results • Projects have budget limits and duration limits, with Track I limited to $500,000 for 18-24 months and Track II limited to $3,000,000 for up to 4 years.
