The Department of Education is providing grants on a competitive basis to eligible public and private nonprofit entities to assist charter schools with the costs related to acquiring, constructing, and renovating facilities. The grants will be used to enhance the availability of loans and bond financing for charter schools. Eligible applicants include public entities, private nonprofit entities, and consortia of these entities. The grants will support charter schools that provide elementary or secondary education, or both, and may also serve students in early childhood education programs or postsecondary students.
