Description:
The Launching Early-Career Academic Pathways in the Mathematical and Physical Sciences (LEAPS-MPS) program is a funding opportunity provided by the U.S. National Science Foundation. The program aims to support pre-tenure faculty in Mathematical and Physical Sciences fields at institutions that do not traditionally receive significant amounts of NSF-MPS funding. The program has an emphasis on helping launch the careers of researchers attempting to launch their research careers, with the goal of achieving excellence through diversity and broadening participation to include members from groups historically excluded and currently underrepresented in the Mathematical and Physical Sciences. * The program provides awards for 24 months, with a total cost of up to $250,000. * Proposals must be submitted by institutions of higher education on behalf of their faculty members. * The program welcomes proposals from principal investigators who share NSF's commitment to diversity. * Awards are intended to support MPS principal investigators, particularly at minority-serving institutions, predominantly undergraduate institutions, and Carnegie Research 2 universities. * The program aims to help initiate viable independent research programs for researchers attempting to launch their research careers.
