The City of Richmond is accepting bids for the construction of the Heat Scarification Project, which includes general contracting services such as mobilization, maintenance of traffic, sweep cleaning, and adjustment of utilities prior to heat scarification and re-compaction of existing asphalt surfaces. The project consists of all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to completely re-heat existing asphalt to a depth of 1-to-11/2-inch depth, install rejuvenating agent and re-spread rejuvenated material with the strike off device to provide a level and uniform cross section. The contractor will be responsible for maintaining the schedule of all work, including work being performed by subcontractors. The project is expected to be completed within 120 consecutive calendar days, including 20 calendar days for inclement weather. • The contractor will be required to provide a project schedule within 3 days after the Pre-Construction Meeting. • The contractor will be responsible for verifying active traffic signal devices in the pavement and replacing them in kind within 7 days after final paving. • The contractor will be required to submit a traffic control plan to the Project Manager for approval. • The contractor will be responsible for installing erosion and sediment control measures in front of all drop inlets prior to milling or paving operations. • The contractor will be required to hand out notification fliers to inform residents of the time and place of upcoming work.
