The Huerfano County Government is seeking proposals from experienced consultants to prepare a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) for Huerfano County. The plan should be data-driven, community-informed, and in line with the Colorado State Forest Service's Forest Action Plan. The selected respondent will be expected to form a number of tasks, including reviewing the Colorado State Forest Service's Minimum Standards for Developing Community Wildfire Protection Plans, participating in orientation meetings, facilitating community and stakeholder meetings and workshops, conducting data analysis, and developing the CWPP. The plan should be accessible, actionable, and offer a comprehensive look at wildfire hazard in the county, as well as specific mitigation measures and projects to address that hazard and minimize risk to life safety, critical infrastructure, and natural resources. Key aspects of the project include: • Reviewing and analyzing existing data sets to prioritize mitigation projects • Coordinating and carrying out robust community outreach events • Developing an accessible electronic version of the final plan • Identifying socially vulnerable populations and developing strategies to reduce their wildfire risk • Integrating community feedback throughout the plan • Collaborating with partners in Huerfano County to inform information and outreach around reducing structure ignitability • Maintaining open lines of communication with Huerfano OEM and core team members The budget for this project is not to exceed $180,000, and the County seeks to complete this project by June 30, 2027.
