The State of Hawaii, Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife is seeking bids for fuels mitigation work, particularly mastication of non-native vegetation, in the Waihou Springs Forest Reserve on the island of Maui. The successful bidder will enter into a contract with the State of Hawaii to perform the work on a per-acre basis. The project involves masticating approximately 170 acres of land using specialized heavy equipment with a masticating head attachment. The contractor will be responsible for providing the necessary equipment, supplies, tools, and labor to perform the work. The contract will be for a period of 12 months, with the option to extend for an additional 6 months. • The project requires the contractor to masticate all downed non-native vegetation ≤20ft tall located between the planted pine. • The contractor will be required to provide a performance bond and a payment bond for each project. • The contractor must comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including those related to environmental protection and worker safety. • The contractor must also comply with the terms and conditions of the contract, including the provision of insurance and the payment of wages and benefits to employees.
