Description:
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking information from sources that may be capable of providing an infrared supercontinuum laser. The laser should cover the 3.5 um to 11um wavelength range, be continuously tunable, and have a total optical power greater than 10 mW over the full wavelength range. The laser system should include electronics for control, have a repetition rate between 40 MHz to 60 MHz, and have a single spatial mode laser output. The system should also have a computer communication interface, syncing/triggering options, and be smaller than 20” x 25” x 10” in size. The laser should have a 1-year warranty, manuals for operation, and a software development kit (SDK) for control by PC. • The laser will be used for spectroscopic detection of drug molecules in the sensitive molecular fingerprint region. • The laser should meet or exceed the draft minimum specifications provided. • The laser should be capable of being controlled by a PC using the provided SDK. • The system should have a linear polarization output. • The system should have an average power over the full spectral band of 10 mW or greater.

Budget Estimate (AI):

$100,000 – $500,000

The budget for this contract is difficult to estimate, as the document does not provide a specific budget or pricing information. However, based on the complexity and specificity of the requirements, it is likely that the contract value will be in the range of $100,000 to $500,000. This estimate is based on the assumption that the laser system will be a custom-built or highly specialized instrument, and that the contract will include not only the provision of the laser but also support, maintenance, and potentially other services. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the level of competition, the complexity of the requirement, and the level of expertise required to fulfill the contract.
