Description:
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is requesting information on existing research or new concepts related to the development of technical solutions that bolster the domestic manufacturing workforce. The goal is to close the U.S. manufacturing workforce gap for frontline production workers. Areas of interest include engaging a new workforce, upskilling and skill transfer, and novel ways to interactively inform, train, and inspire people to drive interest in manufacturing careers. Responses should provide new insights, concepts, case studies, and proposed solutions addressing one or both areas outlined. • Engaging a new workforce: addressing concerns about manufacturing careers being repetitive, physically demanding, inflexible, and low paying • Upskilling and skill transfer: rapidly upskilling a workforce with limited manufacturing experience and providing them with the diverse skill set needed for a life-long career in manufacturing • Novel ways to interactively inform, train, and inspire people to drive interest in manufacturing careers
