The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking a qualified contractor to provide DNA outsourcing services for its crime laboratories. The contractor will be responsible for testing, reporting, and providing court testimony for DNA evidence samples. The contractor must be accredited by the Texas Forensic Science Commission and have the resources to test, report on, and provide court testimony for DNA evidence samples. The contract term is for 5 years, with the option for DPS to extend the contract for an additional 6 months. The contractor will be required to process and analyze forensic DNA casework samples, provide written laboratory reports, and maintain the confidentiality of all records and materials. Key aspects of the job include: • Processing and analyzing forensic DNA casework samples • Providing written laboratory reports that meet International Organization for Standardization/International Electrotechnical Commission (ISO/IEC) 17025 requirements • Maintaining the confidentiality of all records and materials • Providing court testimony for analyzed samples as requested by DPS • Complying with the most current version of the National DNA Index System (NDIS) DNA Data Acceptance Standards
