Qualys is a cloud security and compliance solution that assists UCS in Vulnerability Assessment (VA) which is an integral component of vulnerability management. VA is the process of identifying network and device vulnerabilities before hackers can exploit them. The NYS UCS purchased Qualys agent licenses from a NYS OGS reseller, Thundercat, for vulnerability scanning to cover 11,000 devices and other assets including servers and web applications, based upon the count of assets configured in the Tenable scanning tool UCS had owned for several years. It was determined that ThunderCat is not a manufacturer and, therefore, UCS can no longer purchase the bundled SKUs from ThunderCat to renew for another year, fit-up our licenses and purchase new tools. The vendor with lowest cost to provide the services required was Blackwood Associates.
