Description:
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Science Mission Directorate (SMD) has released its annual omnibus Research Announcement (NRA), Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) – 2025. This opportunity, ROSES25: D.3C XRISM General Observer - Type 2, is one of the many individual program elements within the ROSES-2025 solicitation. The program element provides opportunities for new joint observations with XMM-Newton and NuSTAR, allowing coordinated or simultaneous studies across observatories when scientifically justified. Additionally, time-constrained and Target-of-Opportunity (TOO) observations, up to a combined maximum of 20% of total observing time, are also allowed. • The typical period of performance for an award is three years, but some programs may allow up to five years and others specify shorter periods. • Awards will be made as grants, cooperative agreements, or contracts depending on the nature of the work proposed. • Proposers must be affiliated with an institution at nspires.nasaprs.com/ and, in general, NASA provides funding only to U.S. institutions. • Organizations outside the U.S. that propose on the basis of a policy of no-exchange-of-funds should consult the NASA Grant and Cooperative Agreement Manual (GCAM) for specific details.

Budget Estimate (AI):

$500,000 – $5,000,000

The budget amount for this opportunity is not specified in the document. However, based on the fact that awards will be made as grants, cooperative agreements, or contracts, and considering the typical period of performance for an award is three years, a reasonable estimate for the budget amount could be in the range of $500,000 to $5 million. This estimate takes into account the scope of the project, the type of funding, and the duration of the award.
