Description:
The Green Infrastructure Grant Opportunities (GIGO) program provides grant funds for projects that implement green infrastructure practices to prevent, eliminate, or reduce stormwater runoff, resulting in reduced localized and riverine flooding for the protection of Illinois' rivers, streams, and lakes. Eligible projects include the construction of green infrastructure best management practices (BMPs) such as reconnection of a stream with its floodplain, flow control of stormwater runoff, and flow control of water generated from impervious surfaces. Key aspects of the project include: • Project length is two years (24 months), unless otherwise approved by Illinois EPA. • Illinois EPA will prioritize and select projects based on the ranking criteria outlined in the Evaluation and Scoring Section. • Project match requirements and selection criteria are provided in the NOFO. • GIGO may provide up to 75% of the approved project costs, with the remaining 25% being the responsibility of the grantee as match. • Applicants must be pre-qualified in the GATA portal to receive an award from this NOFO. • The grant agreement will specify the funding terms and conditions resulting from the Fiscal and Administrative and Programmatic Risk Assessments.
