Description:
The United States Marine Corps is conducting market research to determine the availability and adequacy of portable/flyaway multi-band satellite communication terminal options to support expeditionary communications. The focus is on highly packable terminals with minimal transit case count and weight, rapid setup/tear-down, and airline-checkable where practical. Key priorities include Ku/Ka bands, operation on Geosynchronous Equatorial Orbit (GEO) networks with a pathway to Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) and Highly Elliptical Orbit (HEO), and compliance with applicable Department of Defense (DoD) SATCOM standards and certification pathways. • The terminal should be able to operate on GEO networks with a pathway to MEO and HEO. • The terminal should support Ku/Ka bands with X-band desirable. • The terminal should have a target throughput of 20 Mbps (objective), with 10 Mbps (threshold) and 30 Mbps (stretch objective). • The terminal should be highly packable with minimal transit case count and weight. • The terminal should have rapid setup/tear-down and be airline-checkable where practical. • The terminal should comply with applicable DoD SATCOM standards and certification pathways.

Budget Estimate (AI):

$1,000,000 – $10,000,000

Since this is a Request for Information, there is no direct budget or contract value mentioned. However, based on the complexity and requirements of the project, it can be estimated that the potential contract value could range from $1 million to $10 million. This estimation is based on the assumption that the project requires the development and delivery of advanced satellite communication terminals, which could involve significant research, development, and production costs. The actual budget could be higher or lower, depending on the specific requirements and the number of terminals to be produced.
