Description:
The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a qualified contractor to provide on‑call tree removal services (cut‑and‑leave, cut‑and‑remove, cut‑remove‑grind) within the SCDOT right‑of‑way in Richland County for a four‑year period. Work includes all labor, equipment, traffic control, utility coordination, debris disposal, and compliance with safety and environmental standards. The contract is awarded to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder on a unit‑price basis, with no guaranteed minimum quantity. • Provide full‑service tree removal (various size categories) on an as‑needed basis, responding to SCDOT work‑order calls day/night, including emergency calls. • Must supply and maintain traffic‑control plans, obtain utility locates, and manage off‑site disposal of all debris; chipping is allowed only under strict conditions. • Contractor responsible for all required licensing, insurance, bonding, PPE, and for reporting daily logs and incident documentation to the Engineer.

Budget Estimate (AI):

$200,000 – $800,000

The solicitation uses a unit‑price schedule for each tree size and removal method. Assuming an average unit price of $400‑$800 per tree and an estimated volume of 500‑1,000 trees per year (typical for a county‑wide on‑call program), annual spend could range from $200,000 to $800,000. Over the four‑year contract, total earnings might therefore be roughly $800,000 – $3,200,000. Factors influencing the final amount include actual tree volume, seasonal demand spikes, and any additional charges for emergency call‑outs or debris‑chipping.
