Description:
The California Energy Commission is seeking a contractor to provide technical expertise, climate-data processing, and modeling support to improve the methods for preparing global climate model (GCM) data inputs for use in the CA energy demand forecast. The contractor will process and translate climate datasets into hourly, model-ready inputs suitable for energy system planning tools, support evaluation and refinement of modeling approaches, and prepare technical documentation and reports. The project will strengthen statewide analytic capabilities for integrating climate variability, climate extremes, electrification trends, distributed energy resources, and load-modifying behaviors into energy sector planning. Key tasks include: * Processing and translating climate datasets into hourly, model-ready inputs * Supporting evaluation and refinement of modeling approaches * Preparing technical documentation and reports * Providing technical troubleshooting and miscellaneous analytical assistance * Supporting coordination with multiple stakeholder groups
