Description:
Texas A&M University is seeking a single‑vendor solution to design, supply, install, integrate, and support a new high‑performance computing (HPC) cluster to replace its existing “Grace” supercomputer. The system must be built on x86‑64 processors, include CPU and GPU nodes, a high‑performance storage platform of at least 8 PB usable capacity, and a 400 Gb/s InfiniBand fabric. Delivery, installation, and acceptance must be completed by the end of July 2026, with all hardware shipped FOB Destination to College Station, TX. The solicitation requires submission of a HUB Subcontracting Plan, detailed tariff disclosures, and a sample Certificate of Insurance. Evaluation will be based on best‑value criteria, technical compliance, trade‑in valuation, and pricing. • Provide ~1,200 compute nodes (including CPU‑only, GPU‑accelerated, and large‑memory configurations) plus networking and storage infrastructure. • Install the equipment in the West Campus Data Center, integrate with existing campus networks, and provide next‑business‑day support and a 5‑year warranty. • Submit a complete HUB Subcontracting Plan; failure to do so results in automatic disqualification.

Budget Estimate (AI):

$8,000,000 – $20,000,000

No contract value is disclosed. Based on the bill of materials—≈800 CPU‑only nodes, 100 GPU‑accelerated nodes, 8 PB high‑performance storage, InfiniBand fabric, racks, PDUs, installation, 5‑year warranty, and next‑business‑day support—the total procurement cost is likely in the $10 million to $20 million range. The university’s budget for a flagship research platform of this scale typically falls within that band, with the higher end reflecting premium GPU nodes and large‑scale storage.
