The City of Newport News is seeking bids for the construction of two new courtrooms, judges' chambers, administrative offices, and other spaces for the Newport News Courtroom Additions project. The project requires a lump sum payment and has a substantial completion deadline of 210 days and a final completion deadline of 30 days. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities prior to making the award. • The project includes the construction of two new courtrooms, judges' chambers, administrative offices, four witness rooms, interview rooms, jury waiting rooms, jury deliberation rooms, restrooms, and other spaces critical to the judiciary process. • The City's Construction Standards, which are a modified version of the HRPDC Regional Construction Standards, Division 1, Sections 101 through 109, are provided in Section 7, Attachments. • Bidders must be aware that these Bid Documents incorporate a number of changes, which supplement, modify, or replace language and/or Standard Details found in the HRPDC Regional Construction Standards. • The City requires master certification as a condition of licensure or certification of electrical, plumbing, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning Contractors. • The City has a SWaM program, and certified SWaM Businesses are encouraged to participate in the bidding process.
