The City of Norfolk is seeking bids for the renovation of the Norfolk Utilities Meter Shop. The project includes the removal of a concrete masonry unit (CMU) wall to increase the meter shop size, insulation, concrete recoating, electrical, plumbing, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) modifications. The purchase and installation of a new water meter test bench are also included in the scope of work. The contractor will be responsible for completing all labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals required to complete the work as specified in the contract documents and shown on the drawings. • The project requires compliance with the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission's Regional Construction Standards, Fifth Edition, December 2010, as amended. • The contractor must provide at its own expense and without liability to the City any additional land and access thereto that the contractor may desire for temporary construction facilities, staging areas, or storage of materials. • The contractor's use of the staging area will have the same requirements as the construction activity area in the contract documents. • The contractor shall be responsible for the security and safety of all staging area facilities, including equipment, materials, site structures, and construction thereon. • The contractor shall maintain the staging area in an orderly and clean condition and shall at intervals of no more than three (3) days and at its expense, remove and legally dispose of accumulations of rubbish or refuse materials, surplus concrete, mortar, and excavated materials not required on the project.
