The City of Hamtramck is seeking a contractor to plant up to 900 balled and burlapped trees throughout the city over the course of 2025-2028. The selected contractor will be responsible for all aspects of the tree planting process, including procurement, delivery, planting, ongoing watering, and initial maintenance of the trees. The contractor will also be responsible for watering and other post-planting care for 100 additional trees not planted by the contractor, which are to be separately procured and planted at community events. The maximum cost of the Tree Planting Contractor’s work is limited to $679,100 total over the period of 4 years. Key requirements include: * Demonstrated experience with urban tree planting, including balled and burlapped trees * Knowledge of local soil conditions, climate, and the selection of suitable tree species for the region * Ability to manage a multi-year project with an annual planting schedule * Capacity to meet required planting deadlines each year * Compliance with ANSI A300-2023 Tree Care Standards, Clause 10 for Planting and Transplanting and applicable soil management clauses. Some of the key responsibilities of the contractor will include: * Providing all supervision, material, labor, equipment, service operations, and expertise required to acquire, deliver, plant, maintain, and guarantee for one year, street trees, as specified * Conducting a comprehensive site assessment before excavation to verify underground utilities or structures * Planting trees in accordance with the specifications and guidelines provided * Providing post-planting care, including watering, pruning, and monitoring the health of the trees.
