Description:
The City of Fontana is seeking qualified contractors to demolish the existing City Hall, construct a new 44,451 sf municipal building, remodel the Development Services Offices (DSO) with a 1,700 sf two‑story addition, and install a 420 sf pedestrian bridge linking the two structures. The contract is a sealed electronic bid; a mandatory pre‑bid conference is scheduled, and all bidders must provide a 10 % bid guarantee, performance and payment bonds equal to 100 % of the contract amount, and comply with California prevailing‑wage and licensing requirements. • Demolition of existing City Hall and part of the DSO building. • New construction of City Hall, exterior plaza, 111 parking spaces, and DSO addition plus pedestrian bridge. • Comprehensive utility, site‑improvement, and FF&E procurement and installation. • Required Class “A” (or equivalent Class “C” combo) contractor license, DIR registration, and 10 % bid bond plus 100 % performance/payment bonds.

Budget Estimate (AI):

$2,900,000 – $5,800,000

The bid details list an estimated project value of $58 million. Assuming typical profit margins for large public‑work contracts (5‑10 %), the contractor’s earnings would likely fall between $2.9 million and $5.8 million. Adjustments could arise from change orders, scope refinements, or cost‑saving measures, but the ballpark range remains anchored to the disclosed estimate.
