Description:
The Department of the Navy is seeking statements of interest for a funding framework to support drought, fire, and flood encroachment resistance activities within the Mojave Desert Sentinel Landscape and for desert tortoise conservation under the Sentinel Landscape program and Recovery and Sustainment Partnership (RASP). The project aims to improve watershed function, reduce current and projected resilience degradation, and support the recovery of the Agassiz’s desert tortoise. • The project will focus on the Mojave Desert Sentinel Landscape, which covers around 3.5 million acres in Southern California. • The project will involve partnerships with the US Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, and other stakeholders. • The project will require the development and implementation of innovative solutions to improve watershed function and reduce the risk of wildland fires. • The project will also involve monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of the solutions implemented.
