Description:
The Community College of Aurora is seeking a Design/Build Entity to provide complete professional design, construction, and commissioning services for the Campus Safety and Security Project. The project aims to address critical safety and security vulnerabilities across the campus facilities, including aging and structurally compromised exterior doors, an obsolete access-control system, and limited access-control coverage within certain buildings. The selected Design/Build Entity will be required to provide a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) contract and will be responsible for replacing and securing exterior doors, adding electronic access-control systems to select interior doors, upgrading and expanding the key card access-control system, and installing crash-rated bollards at key building entries and pedestrian pathways. The project is expected to improve operational reliability, strengthen regulatory compliance, and enhance the Facility Condition Index (FCI) across primary campus buildings. The Design/Build Entity will be responsible for coordinating with the College's designated Value Added Reseller (VAR) for all access-control hardware, programming, and system integration, and for maintaining continuous operation of all existing alarm and monitoring systems throughout construction. Key aspects of the project include: • Replacing and securing exterior doors with integrated electronic hardware and monitoring tied into the College's existing alarm and access-control system • Adding electronic access-control systems to select interior doors in the Administration and Student Center buildings • Upgrading and expanding the key card access-control system to a modern, encrypted platform • Installing crash-rated bollards at key building entries and pedestrian pathways • Coordinating with the College's designated VAR for all access-control hardware, programming, and system integration • Maintaining continuous operation of all existing alarm and monitoring systems throughout construction • Minimizing campus disruption by implementing phasing and communication strategies that preserve safe access for students, faculty, staff, and visitors during all project activities
