Description:
The purpose of this project is to dewater an old mine in the Barton Coal seam and install a new wet mine seal to replace the failing wet mine seal that currently exists. The project will also include improvements to the existing Mill Run doser and installation of treatment cells. Drainage ditches shall be constructed to safely carry the water through (and around) the treatment system and protect the existing doser from sheet flow behind the existing building. Key tasks include: • Mine pool dewatering • New mine seal installation • Doser improvements • Installation of three excavated type treatment cells to capture precipitates formed by the addition of lime • Drainage ditches to safely carry the water through (and around) the treatment system • Installation of a farm gate on the mine seal access road • Installation of a Traffic Barrier along Mill Run Road The project is expected to last 270 calendar days and has a project classification of C, with an estimated cost between $500,000 to $1,000,000.
