The NYS Office of Mental Health is seeking a recreational therapist to provide therapeutic and rehabilitative recreation services to individuals at the Sagamore Children's Psychiatric Center. The selected candidate will plan, develop, and implement recreation activities and programs, including sports, exercise, dance, drama, music, art, and social activities. The therapist will also observe and record individuals' participation, progress, and behaviors, and coordinate recreation therapy activities with those of other disciplines or therapy programs. • The therapist will work 30 hours per week, with a schedule of Friday to Tuesday, 10:15 AM to 6:45 PM. • The therapist will be required to complete all facility processing, including background checks and physical screening. • The therapist will be required to comply with the facility's policies and procedures, standards, rules, and regulations. • The therapist will be required to maintain individuals' records and documentation in accordance with program standards and requirements. • The therapist will be required to order and maintain recreation supplies and equipment for assigned activities. • The therapist will be required to attend recreation department and/or treatment team meetings.
