The Harlingen Waterworks System is seeking a vendor to provide a twelve-month supply of 50% liquid sodium hydroxide for water treatment. The contract will be awarded for a one-year term with two one-year extension options. The successful bidder will be required to deliver the sodium hydroxide to the Downtown Water Treatment Plant and the M. F. Runnion Water Treatment Plant. The product must meet or exceed ANSI/AWWA B302-95 Standard for Sodium Hydroxide and be acceptable to E.P.A. and Texas Department of Health for potable water treatment. • The sodium hydroxide must be delivered in bulk via tank truck suitable for hauling sodium hydroxide. • The bidder must provide proof of qualifications, including type of product being bid, references, insurance coverage, and laboratory qualifications. • The bidder must submit a price per pound for the twelve-month supply of sodium hydroxide. • The estimated quantity of sodium hydroxide to be supplied is 1,282,000 pounds. • The successful bidder will be required to perform supervised bench tests to determine the most cost-effective dosage.
