The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity is issuing a Notice of Funding Opportunity to provide grants for the development or improvement of tourism attractions in Illinois. The grants will range from $15,000 to $200,000, and the project duration is expected to be from the date of grant execution through June 30, 2026. Eligible applicants include units of local government, not-for-profit organizations, local promotion groups, and for-profit businesses. The application package must include a Uniform Grant Application, Uniform Budget, Conflict of Interest Disclosure, and Mandatory Disclosure. The Department will evaluate applications based on need, capacity, and quality, and grants will be awarded on a competitive basis. • Eligible projects include capital projects, equipment purchases, training programs, and interpretive programs. • Ineligible projects include debt refinancing, contingency funding, normal payroll or operating expenses, and administrative expenses. • The grant will not compensate for indirect costs, overhead, or administrative expenses. • The Department complies with all applicable provisions of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to nondiscrimination, sexual harassment, and equal employment opportunity. • The release of this NOFO does not obligate the Department to make an award. • The Department reserves the right to issue a reduced award or not to issue any award.
