Description:
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is soliciting proposals for the Heterogeneous Architectures for Quantum (HARQ) program, which aims to establish a new heterogeneous quantum computing paradigm. The program includes two technical areas: TA1, which focuses on developing heterogeneous quantum circuit compilers, and TA2, which focuses on developing heterogeneous quantum interconnect technologies. Proposers may address multiple technical areas, but must submit separate abstracts and proposals for each area. The program has a 24-month performance period, with individual project budgets capped at $2,000,000 for Phase 1 and $650,000 for the Scale-Up Period. Key aspects of the job include: • Developing innovative approaches to enable revolutionary advances in theory, devices, and system concepts for quantum interconnects, quantum circuit compilers, and other elements at the intersection of hardware and software in the quantum computing stack • Investigating heterogeneous quantum computing architectures that can provide superior performance compared to homogeneous architectures • Developing optimization frameworks to assign diverse qubit species to QC functions • Creating interface circuit layouts for combinations of qubit parameters • Demonstrating optimization frameworks on small and large benchmark circuits • Developing component-level innovations for quantum interconnects, such as quantum memories, repeaters, optical-to-optical frequency converters, and microwave-to-optical transducers

Budget Estimate (AI):

$2,000,000 – $2,650,000

The anticipated award amount for each project is up to $2,000,000 for Phase 1 and up to $650,000 for the Scale-Up Period. Based on this information, the estimated budget range for the entire project could be between $2,000,000 and $2,650,000. However, this is just an estimate, and the actual budget amount may vary depending on the specific project requirements and the performer's proposal.
