The New York State Office of Mental Health is providing funding for the development of a Court-Based Mental Health Navigator in Washington County. The Navigator will support justice-involved individuals with mental health needs who are currently in the community, and will work with local systems to coordinate voluntary care and support their health, wellness, and recovery. Key responsibilities include conducting initial screenings, connecting individuals with mental health services, and maintaining accurate records. • The Navigator will work at courthouses and with peer specialists to foster rapid connection to services. • The Navigator will have a strong understanding of the local mental health, social services, and criminal justice systems. • The Navigator will develop and maintain a comprehensive resource guide of local behavioral health and social services. • The Navigator will facilitate communication and collaboration with existing providers and stakeholders. • The Navigator will provide participants with basic information about the court process and education on court terms.
