The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking a contractor to provide non-emergent wheelchair transportation services for the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC) and its associated Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). The contractor will be responsible for transporting Veteran patients to and from authorized VA medical facilities, CBOCs, and other medical treatment or care locations. The contractor must have the capability to receive orders, update ride status, and input trip costs and other required data through the VetRide or VA-Approved Transportation Software Utilization portal. Some key requirements include: • Providing non-emergent wheelchair transportation services 365 days a year, 24 hours a day • Having a toll-free number for accepting VA calls • Utilizing a communication system that facilitates effective communication between all parties involved • Having vehicles that meet the minimum requirements, including being certified by the Texas Department of Public Safety and having a valid motor vehicle inspection sticker • Having drivers who meet the minimum requirements, including being 25 years of age or older, holding a valid Texas Driver/Operator's License, and having a successful completion of a National Safety Council approved Defensive Driving Course
