Description:
The Military Sealift Command is seeking information about the price and availability of U.S. flag, Jones Act, self-sustaining vessels and ABS certified tug and barge units capable of carrying a minimum of 50 TEU's of containerized ammunition. The cargo specifics include a maximum TEU gross weight of 32,000 lbs and an average TEU gross weight of 20,000 lbs. The load port is Naval Magazine Indian Island, WA, and the discharging port is Valdez, AK. The layday is 10 September 2025, and the laytime is 2 days. The contractor must have a certified spreader bar capable of lifting 32,000 lbs or more and a container handling forklift with a minimum lifting capacity of 32,000 lbs. The contractor is also responsible for segregating all loaded munition containers aboard the vessel in strict conformance with all applicable regulations. • The vessel or tug/barge must be U.S. flag and Jones Act compliant. • The vessel or tug/barge must be self-sustaining. • The vessel or tug/barge must be capable of carrying a minimum of 50 TEU's of containerized ammunition. • The contractor must have a certified spreader bar and a container handling forklift. • The contractor must segregate all loaded munition containers aboard the vessel.
