The Mid-Atlantic Aviation Partnership (MAAP) at Virginia Tech is seeking comprehensive proposals from qualified vendors to design and assemble a two-story, 1600 square foot structure to further their research related to Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). The proposed structure will be built at the Virginia Tech Kentland Farm, located at 5250 Whitethorne Rd., Blacksburg, VA 24060. The installation of this structure is expected to be completed no later than March 1st, 2026. • The first floor will be used as a group meeting space, and should include two restrooms and a kitchenette. • The second floor is operations and engineering workspace intended for data collection and flight operations management. • The roof should include a customizable mounting system to accommodate various equipment racks, sensors, telescoping masts, and towers. • The structure should have power and fiber, exterior lighting, lightning strike protection, and HVAC/climate control. • The contractor should provide a clean set of reproducible "as built" drawings and wiring diagrams, marked to record all changes made during installation or construction. • The contractor should have the necessary insurance coverages, including worker's compensation, employer's liability, general liability, and automobile liability. • The contractor should comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and university policies, including those related to safety, health, and environmental protection.
