The NIH Directors Transformative Research Award Program supports individual scientists or groups of scientists proposing bold, groundbreaking, exceptionally innovative, original, and/or unconventional research with the potential to create new scientific paradigms, establish entirely new and improved clinical approaches, or develop transformative technologies. The program is part of the High-Risk, High-Reward Research program and will utilize the R01 activity code. • Applications are not being solicited at this time, but notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful and responsive projects. • Investigators of exceptional creativity with a high-risk, high-impact proposal are encouraged to begin to consider applying for this new NOFO. • Preliminary data and detailed experimental plans are not requested or required. • The estimated funding for this program is $8,000,000, and the estimated number of awards is 7.
