Description:
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking applications for the establishment of a Coordination Center for Interoception Research (BPCCIR) through a U24 cooperative agreement funding mechanism. The goal of this initiative is to promote multidisciplinary interoception research, bridge the gap between brain and body studies, and improve population health through innovative research and collaboration. The key objectives of the BPCCIR include establishing and maintaining a multidisciplinary team of interoception researchers, developing digital communication platforms, planning and hosting scientific meetings, identifying challenges and future opportunities in interoception research, and generating metrics of success. • The BPCCIR aims to advance interoception research, which is critical for health promotion and offers insights into stress regulation, hunger, and emotional well-being. • Impaired interoception is linked to conditions like obesity, diabetes, anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders. • The target audience includes researchers and institutions with expertise in neuroscience, physiology, psychology, and biomedical sciences. • Eligible applicants include higher education institutions, non-profits, for-profit organizations, governments, and other entities capable of conducting multidisciplinary research.
