Description:
The City of Colorado Springs is seeking a contractor to develop the Austin Bluffs Open Space Trail. The project includes new trail construction, wayfinding posts installation, and existing trail closure. The contractor should have relevant project experience, use qualified and experienced crews, and complete the work by early summer 2026. The project is funded by the City and Grant Funding, with straightforward billing and tracking. Key aspects of the project include: • New trail construction: 36” multi-use, multi-direction trails with average trail grades at 7% and 6% • Wayfinding posts installation: 6” x 6” composite posts and Carsonite markers • Existing trail closure: hard closure at each crossing up to 100’ and decompaction, restoration, and cover with branches • Ad Alt #1 bedrock removal: removal of bedrock above and beyond trail construction, as necessary and approved by the project manager • Site access: higher elevation access from Butler Count and Rim Trail, and lower elevation access from North Nevada Ave Trailheads and Regional Trails
