The City of New Bedford is seeking proposals from qualified respondents to provide maintenance of public space including litter picking and weeding of plant beds, with a community education component and youth training initiative. The selected firm will be contracted with for one year, from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026, with options to extend the contract for two additional terms of one year each at the sole discretion of the City. The contract will include groundskeeping services, community outreach, and youth employment and leadership development. • The firm will maintain areas in the Acushnet Avenue International Marketplace neighborhood and associated public spaces. • The firm will provide litter picking, weeding, and planting services. • The firm will develop and host community events and programs to build community cohesion around issues of environmental stewardship and resilience. • The firm will hire, train, and supervise City youths between the ages of 14 to 21 to perform the services outlined above.
