• Competitive matching grant program administered by DECD aimed at improving livability and vibrancy of Connecticut communities
• Key project elements include:
1. Transit-oriented development near transit hubs
2. Downtown/major hub development and property reuse
3. Essential infrastructure development
4. Affordable/accessible housing
5. Mobility improvements (pedestrian, ADA, bicycle)
6. Public space improvements (open spaces, art, lighting)
• Program highlights:
- Over $95 million awarded across 21 cities/towns
- Expected to create 2,300+ housing units
- Will develop 300,000+ sq ft of office/retail/restaurant space
- 12+ new public space projects
- Leverages $3 of non-state investment for every $1 invested
- 50% of funds targeted to distressed municipalities
- Goal to create 3,000 new jobs
